Hello Everyone,

 

We are only two sleeps away from our planting day!! Here are a few safety reminders: 

 

1. **Wear proper footwear** – It is crucial to wear sturdy footwear with closed toes– running shoes and other boots are acceptable. Volunteers not wearing closed toe shoes will not be able to participate….No sandals or flats please.                                                                                                                                
2. Dress for the weather – The event will happen “rain or shine” so please wear weather-appropriate clothing. Wear layers to be able to add or remove clothes depending on the weather.                                                                                           
3. Be sun smart – You will be provided with a TD Tree Days t-shirt, but we also recommend a hat, sunscreen, long sleeves and long pants – long sleeves and long pants will help protect you from the sun, insect bites and thorny plants. 
4. Stay hydrated – Please bring your own reusable water bottle to ensure you stay hydrated. The City will have water available on site to refill your bottle. Light snacks will also be provided after the event.
5. Dust/Mold – Volunteer activities involve the use of wood chips which are often dusty and can contain mould. Similar to ragweed, dust and mould can be potential allergens even though found naturally in the environment. If you have asthma, allergies, or respiratory problems and would like the use of a mask, please request one from the event organizer when you arrive.
